Albany Diocesan Cemeteries offers Reverence for All Souls – All Souls Committal Service; free entombment of cremated remains. Friday, November 1, 2019, 2:00pm St. Agnes Cemetery 48 Cemetery Ave. Menands, NY 12204 Albany Diocesan Cemeteries offers a wide range of options for the final disposition of cremated remains: cremation gardens and columbariums, as well as regular graves and mausoleums. However, often families just don’t know what to do when the urn containing the cremated remains is returned by the funeral director. Albany Diocesan Cemeteries provides this service to assure that the proper care and reverential disposition of cremated remains is available to all Catholics. On November 1, in a special service for All Souls Day, Albany Diocesan Cemeteries and St. Agnes Cemetery will provide this service for Catholic families who have cremated remains they wish to entomb. Memorial butterflies are available to be installed near the crypt. “The cremated remains of a body should be treated with the same respect given to the human body from which they come. This includes the use of a worthy vessel to contain the ashes, the manner in which they are carried, the care and attention to the appropriate placement and transport, and the final disposition. The cremated remains should be buried in a grave or entombed in a mausoleum or columbarium. The practice of scattering cremated remains on the sea, from the air, or on the ground, or keeping cremated remains in the home of a relative or friend of the deceased are not the reverent disposition the Church requires.” – Order of Christian Funerals If you have the cremated remains of a loved one that you would like to entomb, please contact us before November 1st at (518) 463-0134 or info@rcdacemeteries.org. We encourage family, friends, and others who wish to pay their respects to join us for the All Souls Committal Mass Service.
