Small towns offer high quality of life and a strong sense of the worth of every resident in the community, but a place with a small population has a hard time supporting a broad range of goods and services. Economic challenges are magnified in a small town. The key to success in building a healthy business community in a small town is to create an economic development plan that maximizes the community’s strengths and minimizes its weaknesses.
Good Morning Altamont Business Owners,
Th GCC would like to extend an offer to our Altamont business owners for a business development group. As many of you may know the Guilderland Chamber has been a successfully established organization to help local business connect/thrive in our community for 50 years now. Michelle Viola-Straight became the President of the Chamber a little over a year ago and has created great programs and networking groups to help grow businesses and individuals in their career paths.
Recently, we formulated a plan to expand our reach into Altamont, Voorheesville and the Hilltowns. We see a huge opportunity to help our businesses in our more isolated markets and with many of our Chamber ambassadors being residents of Altamont, we feel very passionate about those three communities. About a month ago, a couple of our ambassadors went to a few Altamont businesses to gauge interest in developing a group for Altamont business owners, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.
Here’s what we would like to accomplish :
1. If we could get responses to let us know your level of interest in putting together a specific business group in the individual communities we listed.
2. Get an understanding of what time constraints everyone would have so we can effectively schedule a meeting or event to best fit everyone’s schedule.
3. MOST importantly we want to know what people’s pain points or concerns are within their business and what topics or information you would like covered.
The whole idea behind this is to use the Guilderland Chamber’s influence and connections to help small community businesses in a more centralized way. We feel it’s time to bring these great businesses together and help one another grow and see success! If everyone could email us back either to this email and/or the emails being CC’d, to get an idea of the why, what, where and when of how we should move forward with this group, it would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your support and we look forward to meeting with all you!!
Your Friends from the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce,
Michelle Viola-Straight
